Henan University of Technology, located in Zhengzhou City, Henan Province, is a university jointly established by the People's Government of Henan Province and the State Grain Administration, a university for the construction of characteristic backbone universities in Henan Province, an excellent university for the evaluation of undergraduate teaching work by the Ministry of Education, and a receiving institute for international students coming to China with Chinese government scholarships The school was selected into the 2011 plan, the national new engineering research and practice project, the basic capacity building project of colleges and universities in the central and western regions, the outstanding engineer education and training plan, the outstanding agricultural and forestry talent education and training plan, the national college student innovation and entrepreneurship training plan, and the national professional and technical personnel continuing Education base.

The school was founded in 1956, and has successively been affiliated to the Ministry of Grain, the Ministry of Commerce and the Ministry of Domestic Trade; it started undergraduate education in 1959, started postgraduate education in 1981, and started doctoral education in 2013. In 2018, it was approved as a doctoral degree conferring unit; in 1998, it was placed under the management of Henan Province, and the Henan Provincial People's Government and the State Grain Administration signed a contract to jointly build Henan University of Technology in 2010.

As of April 2023, the school has three campuses: Lianhua Street Campus, Songshan Road Campus, and Zhongyuan Road Campus, covering a total area of 1.843 million square meters, a total construction area of 1.013 million square meters, and a total value of teaching and scientific research equipment of 817 million yuan. There are more than 3.965 million volumes of books; there are 22 colleges, 72 undergraduate majors, 3 post-doctoral research stations, 4 first-level discipline doctoral programs, 25 first-level discipline master’s programs, and 2 second-level discipline master’s degree authorization points There are 14 professional and master degree categories, 2,033 full-time teachers, more than 38,000 full-time students, including nearly 3,500 graduate students, nearly 200 foreign students, and more than 20,000 continuing education students.
